What is API ?
The American Preparatory Institute (API) is an operating unit of the Central Texas College District (CTCD). API develops, manages, and operates educational programs for Basic Academic Skills and High School Diploma with curriculum available in pencil/paper and online format.
API is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), Council on Accreditation and School Improvement (CASI) and is a member of the Texas Association of Non-Public Schools (TANS), the Texas Association for Alternative Education (TAAE), and the Commission of International and Trans-Regional Accreditation (CITA).
The American Preparatory Institute’s accreditation status is recognized by the Texas Education Agency through API’s membership in the Texas Private School Accreditation Commission (TEPSAC).
API strives to provide an opportunity for students who have difficulty adjusting to a public school environment or completing state graduation requirements with an alternative way to obtain their high school diploma. We incorporate Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) standards; National Study of School Education (NSSE) procedures; the Secretary’s Commission on Achieving Necessary Skills (SCANS); and the Oklahoma Priority Academic Student Skills (PASS) standards into all published curriculum.
The API Adult High School Program is a self-paced, open entry/open exit high school completion program. Course module tests, midterms, and final examinations are proctored by API educational staff in the API classroom. Students taking controlled examinations must be present, have appropriate identification as proof of enrollment, and abide by classroom rules regarding attendance and testing.
Admission Requirements
